We Volunteered at the 2016 Columbus & Findlay, OH Multiple Sclerosis walks and had a good time as always. The Columbus walk was April 9th and the Findlay walk was last weekend April 23rd. At the Columbus MS walk my wife Carol, sister Mani (Manuela), her husband Derick, their son Devin, and their exchange student Niklas volunteered with me. James who is in all the pictures below is 10 years old also volunteered, I mentor James and he was a big help working as hard as any of us.
At the Findlay walk Carol, my sister’s son Austin and James volunteered.
Everyone worked really hard at both walks even in Columbus at the Huntington Park baseball stadium where the weather was in the mid to upper 20s and we where directly in the wind. In Findlay we were inside Findlay University’s Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex at 70 degrees, but worked harder with fewer volunteers.
In Columbus we did find a little refuge down a short hall with no wind and the temp about 10 degrees warmer than the cold windy side we were on. It was so cold the water bottles had ice in them and the bananas were freezing. Gummy bears were froze solid and sounded like stones hitting the table when dropped.
No matter the conditions we all enjoyed ourselves and had a good time. My wife, sister and her family have been supporting me by volunteering or walking since I was diagnosed with MS in 2001 and James has joined the team this year. It means a lot to have a support team like these guys supporting me especially when I needed them the most when I was at my sickest point about 10 years ago.
Happy & Healthy,
