Ayurveda 3

"Ayurveda 3", Yoga Chuck's Ayurveda Series.

Lemon-Whole-Split

Hot Lemon Water:

One of the things I do to start my morning is drink a glass of hot water with 1/2 a lemon (which has about 20 mg of vitamin C) squeezed in it. This Ayurveda practice is a great way to clean the pipes.

It kick starts the digestive system and eliminates toxins. It helps detox the body by flushing the kidneys, liver, lymphatic system and helps us stay regular. If we don't eliminate regularly and have a properly working digestive system we are or will become ill.

I used to eat within the first hour of waking  up to get my metabolism going. Now when starting with hot lemon water my metabolism has begun and I actually get a better feeling how hungry I really am or not. This helps keep me from over eating.

For those trying to loose weight it will help and also helps keep you hydrated. With a properly working digestive system you are able to absorb more nutrients instead of them passing straight through. If you're not absorbing enough nutrients you'll feel hungry even when your full because the body is still in need of the nutrients that have passed through and now your adding unnecessary calories just to try and get the nutrients the body still needs.

Even though lemons are considered an acidic food they are not acidic in our bodies when being metabolized. They become alkaline when metabolized in our body.

Starting your day with a glass of hot lemon water will work great in replenishing fluids lost over night while sleeping. The liver is very active while were sleeping.
It's not only good for the body but good for the mind too.

With these benefits, maybe its time you try hot lemon water and see what it can do for you. Even if it doesn't do what I've said the only side effect I can think of is the possible acid from the lemon deteriorating the enamel on the teeth if you don't swish water around in your mouth after drinking the lemon water. You can also brush your teeth to remove the acid.

Carol buys about 4 lemons a week and we place them in a bowl on the table making for a colorful natural decoration.

The lifestyle we choose can either build us up and make us strong or break us down causing us to become weak and possibly ill.

Happy & Healthy,
Yoga Chuck
